Since I’d never been to the Family Reunion before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. All in all, I came away with a positive view of the event.

There were a few people that showed up in support of the events, such as comedian Tony Rock and former rap group Kid N Play. If you find out in time about it next year, you might wanna check it out.

Have you ever been to the Tom Joyner Family Reunion?

So, yesterday I came back from a weekend in Orlando, Florida at the Tom Joyner’s Family Reunion. It was my first time attending and it was nice. Saturday night was Ford Presents A Night of R&B and Old School Hip Hop with singers Fantasia and Robin Thicke.

Both artists put on a good show. Fantasia put her all into the performance and repeatedly (albeit indirectly) referenced her recent situation. Her vocals were strong and the audience responded to her energy. Robin kept it sexy as usual. He got the crowd worked up with sexual gestures and self-groping. Don’t worry. It wasn’t as obscene as it sounds. Just enough to get his point across.

Have you ever seen these two live?

Heiress Paris Hilton was recently arrested in Las Vegas on drug charges. Sources say police found a white powdery substance in her purse which they tested. It turned out to be cocaine. Paris claims that the drugs were not hers and that the purse wasn’t even hers.

If Paris is indeed innocent of these charges, I hope that she is exonerated of them. However, if she is guilty, I can’t say that I would be 100% surprised. Paris has always been known for her partying and it’s been widely documented that the more high-profile the party, the more likely cocaine is available. I’m just saying.

Do you think Paris will be found guilty?

By now, you’ve probably heard that some of producer Timbaland’s relatives thought that he would kill himself. This occurred after he found out that someone had stolen his $2 million watch. Timbaland later called a radio station to state that he hadn’t planned to kill himself. He said that he was just taking a drive and that he felt that the theft was an inside job, since it had happened before.

I’m glad to hear that he didn’t intend on taking his own life. I do think that he may want to set some type of extra security around his house. Nothing worse than thieving relatives.

How do you think Timbaland should solve his theft problems?

Well, I guess the cat is finally out of the bag about singer Mariah Carey’s pregnancy. Carey has made a few appearances lately, looking a little swole in the tummy. It’s quite obvious that the 40 year-old singer is with child but she says she is superstitious and doesn’t want to talk about it just yet.

That’s cool. I respect that. I once heard that a woman shouldn’t talk about her pregnancy within the first 3 months. So, I guess I can see how she might be a little finicky about speaking on it. Either way, I’m happy for her and hope that the child comes out healthy.

Do think Mariah Carey should just confirm the pregnancy already or is it pointless after seeing the photos?

Singer Faith Evans was arrested Saturday night under suspicion of driving drunk. According to Radaronline.com, her car was impounded and she was held for four hours. Well, I hope this is just an awful misunderstanding but if it isn’t, it may be a good idea to avoid driving after she’s had a few drinks. Just to be on the safe side. On a side note, Faith has a song on the radio and is supposed to be working on a new reality show.

Do you plan to watch Faith Evans’ reality show?

Producer Wyclef Jean has learned that he will not be running for presidency. His bid was turned down this week after the Haiti board of elections reviewed it. Some suggest that his rejection had something to do with the fact that he has not lived in Haiti a consecutive five years.

This may not be a bad thing. I mean, I’m sure Jean thought he was doing a noble thing but I don’t know how effective he would have been as a president of any nation. It takes more than passion for a country to run the country, especially one as impoverished as Haiti.

Do you think Wyclef Jean would have made a good president?

Occasionally, this argument rears its ugly head and it’s coming up again. Actor Anthony Mackie recently talked about how Hollywood is not investing their energy and money into developing young actors. Instead, they are turning to rappers.

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with rappers/singers transitioning into acting, as long as they take it seriously. Acting is an artform, just like rapping and singing. It has to be respected. Besides, there are some rappers that have done an excellent job in the acting world. Will Smith, Ice Cube and Queen Latifah come to mind.
