I personally never quite got why she was such a big deal, especially when you consider that her 8 marriages often overshadowed her work. But here are a couple of things that might explain her impact:

2. Her perfume line earned over $200 million in sales, pioneering the celebrity vanity fragrance.

3. She began acting at age 10.

4. Taylor is one of the few actors who have won 2 Oscars.
