HALLE SCARY

TMZ recently caught up with singer Eric Benet at the airport. In light of her recent custody issues, they asked Benet if it were true that his friends used to call ex wife, Halle Berry, Halle Scary. Benet only response was that they were "going deep." Benet and Berry were married for 4 years before a very public divorce.
I think they were bold to ask him something like that when he was leaving the airport but I think he handled it well. Some people would have cursed them out.
Ciara and Rihanna Twitter Fight

I’m not trying to be funny or anything but sometimes I wonder if entertainers have even less to do than we do. Friday night, singers Rihanna and Ciara got into a little Twitter beef after footage of Ciara talking to Joan Rivers hit the web. In the video, the singer said that Rihanna wasn’t very nice when she saw her at a party. Rihanna took to Twitter to throw barbs at Ciara. It eventually ended with Rihanna apologizing and Ciara accepting it.
I didn’t see the point of this exchange but, in the future, I think entertainers (and anybody for that matter) would benefit from working out differences in person instead of on Twitter. This social network is a good way for things to get way out of hand.
RAPHAEL SAADIQ GOOD MAN
For the past week, I’ve been hearing this song on the radio. I kept wondering about the singer. Who was he? I finally figured out that it is Raphael Saadiq, former member of Tony! Toni! Tone! and the song is called Good Man. I know that he’s been doing his solo thing for years now but sometimes I hear is stuff, sometimes I don’t. Anyway, I kinda like the song. It sounds very vintage R&B.
Listen and tell me what you think.
MARIAH CAREY’S SISTER HIV+ PROSTITIUTING

According to the National Enquirer (what a source), singer Mariah Carey’s sister is a $250 per hour escort. Here’s the kicker. She’s HIV +. Carey’s older sister, Allison, has been troubled for a long time. She’s had a long history of drug abuse and has been arrested twice for prostitution. She has an ad on Backpage.com describing herself as a blonde name “Denise.” Allison claims that she’s not having sex for money, only offering “companionship” and rubs.
This is a really sad situation. I wouldn’t wish HIV on anyone. I know she says she needs the money but I think Allison should look at finding another way to support herself. If she really got herself together, she could make use of her plight to motivate others to make different life choices. Hello? Public speaking.
HALLE AND GABRIEL TRUCE

After days of putting each other's parenting skills on blast, actress Halle Berry and model Gabriel Aubry have decided to work together once again to work out their co-parenting arrangement. According to Radaronline.com, Aubry dismissed his court case. The two parents have since been seen talking and Halle will be taking their daughter, Nahla, to New York to shoot, New Year's Eve.
I'm glad they are working things out. I like to see adults ACT like adults. It's so hard to find these days. Somehow we forget that our childish days are over and it's time to think our way out of a problem instead of lashing out.
Do you think they can resolve their custody issues?
EL IN REHAB

Like many, I was saddened to hear that singer El Debarge needed to return to rehab this week. Apparently, he had a relapse and decided to voluntarily enter an undisclosed rehab. This, of course, cuts his time short on The Intimacy Tour with Kem.
I wish El much success with his current rehab. I had a feeling he might have trouble this time around. I remember when he first appeared on the BET Awards last year. I originally thought that he’d been sober for several years. To my dismay, he’d only been sober for about one year. While that may sound like a long time, it’s not—in addiction years. He really needed more sober time to ensure that he would be able to handle the pressures and lifestyle that he was in when he began his addiction. Hopefully, this attempt will allow him to find some additional coping tools.
Do you think it was too soon for El Debarge to return to the music industry?
TIFFANY EVANS: I’LL BE THERE
Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of this song on the radio. It’s not a bad song. It has a positive message. However, I can’t help but think that this girl sounds a lot like Beyonce. I actually thought it was Beyonce at first. Listen and tell me what you think.

ANOTHER VH1 REALITY SHOW

VH1 has a new reality show coming out called Love & Hip Hop. According to Hip Hop Wired, the show will air March 14th at 10:30pm. In a Basketball Wives type vibe, the show centers around Olivia (former G-Unit singer), Mashonda (ex-wife of producer Swiss Beatz), Emily Bustamante (rapper Fabulous woman), Somaya Reece (aspiring rapper) and Chrissy Lampkin (rapper Jim Jones woman). Go to Hip Hop Wired to see the preview of the show.
What can I say? It appears that VH1 has struck reality TV gold with their version of "The Real Housewives..." series. Some are concerned about the stereotypes these women portray but I don't quite see it that way. I think these women are just reflecting they're reality. It's not always positive but neither is the world.
What do you think of the show?
CHRIS BROWN ASKS FOR LIFT ON ORDER

According to Entertainment Rundown, singer Rihanna has agreed to bring the restraining order against singer/former boyfriend Chris Brown to a level one. Brown says that the order, stemming from 2009 assault charges, is getting in the way of his career. Since his charge, the singer has completed domestic violence courses and community service. Even his judge had commended him on his progress. Lifting the order would allow Chris and Rihanna to be in the same room and communicate.
Two years is a long time and if they can move past this and be civil, more power to them. Chris is lucky that he's been able to rebound on his career after such a disastrous situation.
Do you think Rihanna's restraining order against Chris Brown should be lifted?
FANTASIA AS MAHALIA JACKSON

News broke this week that American Idol Fantasia is set to play gospel great Mahalia Jackson in a biopic. According to Zap2it.com, Fantasia is gaining 30-45 pounds for this role. The movie will be based a 1993 book about the gospel maven. Production is supposed to start in April.
I'm happy about this role for Fantasia. It's almost tailor made for her, except for the 30-45 pounds. I admire entertainers that can get so absorbed in their roles that they're willing to gain weight for them. I, on the other hand, would probably have a problem with it. I hate gaining 5 lbs-can't imagine gaining 45. Yikes! It's gonna be hell taking that back off.
What do you think of Fantasia's new role?
KEYSHIA COLE’S TAKE ME AWAY
Take Me Away is Keyshia Cole’s second single from her Calling All Hearts album. I know there’s been some talk about rather she can maintain her audience now that she’s personally “happy,” with conventional thought feeling that her records sales will slide because she’s no longer singing about heartbreak, etc. The same thought was expressed about Mary J. Blige.
Personally, I like Take Me Away. I guess it’s a little different from her usual songs but that can be a good thing. As I expressed previously in my rant in the Antiquated Advice post about Ray J, we have to stop telling artists that they're not relevant when they are attached or happy. The audience really doesn’t care, as long as the music is still good. Now if you’re attached and your music sucks, that’s another story.
Listen to it and tell me what you think.
WAYNE’S GREEN AND YELLOW
IT’S SUPERBOWL TIME! Weee! Now most people have heard the song by rapper Wiz Khalifa Black & Yellow, which seems to have become the unofficial theme song for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In case you’ve missed it, rapper Lil Wayne released his own song, Green & Yellow in support of the Green Bay Packers.
I love the football season. Although I’m not quite a hip hop buff, any support of the Super Bowl is cool with me.
