Is it me or does the whole Britney Spears comeback at the VMAs thing sound too hopeful? Her undoing took more than a year; I think it’s safe to say that putting her career back on track is going to take more than one night. Of course, with hard work and determination anything is possible but taking a break from the biz might be just what the doctor ordered. If she took a three year break, got her head together and lived a normal life (minus paparazzi), she might have something to say and know exactly how to say it.

Not Yet A…Comeback
Saturday, September 8th, 2007It’s Happened Before
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007It’s no mistake that rap sales are hitting the skids. There have been countless complaints about the music on the radio but there’s a good reason for it; I like to call it “The Cyclical Effect.” Usually, new, exciting and inventive music surfaces at the beginning of a decade. Think TLC and Kris Kross. From the beginning til mid decade, the music industry is always on a roll. Then, mid to late decade, the music starts to peter out. It’s like a machine that’s running out of steam. The music starts to seriously slow down in the second half. In 1997, we had Rome (I Belong To You), Changing Faces (G.H.E.T.T.O.U.T) and even Puff Daddy or Diddy was singing “I’ll Be Missing You.” If you listen closely, you can hear the same thing happening right now. Everybody wants to go against the grain (rap/hip-hop) and release slower, more conscious music. My prediction is that the music will continue to slow down and, in the next decade, we’ll see a new crop of fresh faces with interesting forms of expression. In the meantime, get ready for some laid back music, especially with the revitalization of Blue-Eyed Soul. But don’t get to use to these pale-faced crooners, some of them won’t be around for long.
Woman Up!
Saturday, June 9th, 2007Prison is not rehab! Just because you don’t like it does not mean you can pitch a crying fit and walk out. If you break the law and are sentenced to a (short) time in prison, just do your time and call it a day. Its 45 days, not 45 years. On some level, I don’t completely blame Paris Hilton for her issues; I blame her parents. They dropped the ball with making her into a responsible, socially aware young woman that contributes to the betterment of society. They obviously sheltered her intensely, which seems to be the case for most of the rich kids. Let’s not forget Brandon Davis (Paris’ pal) and his drunken tirade against Lindsay Lohan, calling her poor for making only $7 million. It’s time for these little princes and princesses to grow up.
Are We Trippin?

It had to happen one day. Our little Usher had to get older and put his grown man on. So why are we so up in arms? Okay, so it’s pretty obvious that Usher has a thing for older women (Can’t forget about Chilli). Yes, there are some issues concerning his fiancee’s divorce and 3 kids, and let’s not even mention the firing of his momanger, Jonetta. But are we making too big of a deal out of his choice of mate, Tameka Foster? I find it very interesting that we’re often angry with men, especially the ones in entertainment, for choosing women that, uh, look a certain way. Yet, now that one of the most famous, eligible bachelors is being taken off the market by someone average-looking, we have a problem with that, too. This should give more hope to other average women. We have to make up our minds, ladies.
‘Boring’ Idol
Saturday, May 26th, 2007Who didn’t know Jordin was gonna win? Any other season, I would only catch the last five or so episodes but this year, I decided “What the heck? I’ll watch the whole season. After the finale, I have to admit I feel like I wasted my time. Like, I should have watched the other seasons, instead. It was as if the producers, I mean the audience, :-) voted some people off too soon. The result was a predictable finale. The only spontaneity on the show this season came from an amateur kid named Sanjaya. Tighten up, Idol! You’re slipping.
